The short version: the Whimbrel app keeps your meetings and work history on your own computer. This website only collects what you type into the registration form and basic download records, uses them to give you the download and (if you ask) product updates, and never sells them.

The Whimbrel app

Meeting audio, transcripts, notes, and screen-text history are stored in a database on your computer. If you turn on sync, that data is end-to-end encrypted on your device before it is uploaded, and the keys stay on your devices. When you use a hosted AI provider with your own API key, the text needed to answer that request is sent to that provider under its terms; local models through Ollama send nothing off your computer.

What this website collects

  • Registration details you enter: name, email address, and optionally company, role, and team size, plus the platform you chose and whether you opted in to product emails.
  • Where you came from: campaign tags in the link you followed (UTM parameters), the referring website, and the first page you landed on.
  • Approximate location: the country your request came from, as reported by our hosting provider. We do not store your IP address.
  • Downloads: which platform and version you downloaded, and when.

How we use it

  • To give you the download and remember that you've registered.
  • To email you your personal download links once, when you first register. This isn't marketing, and it's sent whether or not you opt in to product emails.
  • To understand which channels bring people to Whimbrel, in aggregate.
  • To send release notes and product updates, only if you opted in. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
  • To contact you about a problem with your download or account, if needed.

Cookies and local storage

We set one cookie, whimbrel_lead, after you register. It holds a random identifier so the download links work without asking you again, and expires after a year. The site also keeps a note of your first visit's campaign tags in your browser's local storage. We use no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Who processes it

The website and its database run on Cloudflare. Spam protection may use Cloudflare Turnstile. Emails, including the download-links email and an internal notice to us about each registration, are sent through Resend. We may copy registrations into our customer-relationship tools to follow up with you. We do not sell or rent your information.

How long we keep it

We keep registration records while early access is running and for up to two years after your last interaction, then delete them. You can ask us to delete them sooner at any time.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct, export, or delete your information, and you can withdraw consent to emails at any time. Email mike@futuremeanswered.com and we'll respond within 30 days.

Changes

If we change this policy we'll update the date above, and email registered users about material changes.
