How can Whimbrel transcribe a call without joining it?
It records two audio streams on your own computer: your microphone, and the system audio your meeting app plays. Because nothing joins the call, it works in any meeting app and in person.
Is transcription done in the cloud?
No. Whimbrel transcribes on your computer with an on-device Whisper speech model, so meeting audio never has to leave your machine. Summaries use the model you choose: local through Ollama or a hosted provider with your own key.
Does it know who said what?
Yes. Whimbrel separates you from the other side of the call and labels distinct speakers in the transcript.
Will it record meetings I don't want recorded?
You decide. Recording can start from calendar events or from detecting meeting audio, and you can stop, pause, or skip any meeting. Always follow the recording-consent rules that apply to you.
