Yes. Every feature in the app is free and open source under the Apache 2.0 license: meeting capture, transcription, screen memory, search, chat, routines, connectors, the MCP server, and end-to-end encrypted sync. Nothing in the app is held back for a paid plan.
You choose. Run models on your computer with Ollama for free, or bring your own Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google Gemini key and pay that provider directly. Whimbrel never resells AI usage: there is no hosted model, no token bundle, and no markup on your model bill, on any plan.
Nothing. Sync is end-to-end encrypted. On a relay you run yourself, it's unlimited. On the relay we host, a free account syncs one computer and one phone. Planned Cloud plans add unlimited devices on our relay.
Only things that need a server somebody runs, or a person on the other end: our hosted relay for any number of devices, with backups, push notifications to your phone, and, planned, routines that keep running while your laptop is closed. Team plans add shared meeting memory and one bill. Details and prices aren't final, and nothing is for sale yet.
Not yet. Paid plans will only go on sale once billing exists and the plans are settled. Until then everything is free, and you won't be asked for a card.
Yes. The sync relay and update feed are open source and documented for self-hosting. If you want a person responsible for your deployment, talk to us about a support contract.
