Kestrel is now called Whimbrel. Until the first Whimbrel release ships, the installer and the app still say Kestrel. It's the same app, and it updates itself to the new name.

Install in two minutes
- Run the downloaded
Whimbrel_x.y.z_x64-setup.exe. - If SmartScreen appears, choose More info → Run anyway (see below why).
- The installer finishes without needing administrator rights.
- Whimbrel starts in the system tray. Open it to finish setup.
- Connect your calendar so recordings start with your meetings.
Windows questions
Why does Windows show a SmartScreen warning?
During early access the installer is not yet signed with a Windows code-signing certificate, so Microsoft Defender SmartScreen may show "Windows protected your PC". Choose More info, then Run anyway. Updates delivered inside the app are signature-verified before they install.
Do I need administrator rights?
No. Whimbrel installs for your user account only, in your user profile, so a standard account can install and update it.
Does the Windows app have every Mac feature?
Not yet. Whimbrel for Windows is in early access and is reaching parity with the Mac app release by release. Both apps share the same core, and a Mac and a PC can share one timeline.
